"New Roads, Laey Nov. 20, 1909=tfith the last words of his
death warrant hardly uttered, Sidney Jefferson, convicted
of the murder of his wife, declared that his only wiish
was that he be given plenty to eat between now and the
day of his execution, The warrant was read to Jefferson
Friday in his prison cell here, "I am ready to die,"

he said, "and the only thing I ask is that you give me
plenty to eat between now and then." The date of his exe
