tions during World War IZ, On Jan. 25, 1916, he chopped
-his mother, Margaret Koons, to pieces with a hatchet at

their Springfield home, Prior to his electrocution which
he faced @almly, on April 2, 1947, he willed his eyes for
a cornea transplant to restore sight to another veteran,
