"William Thompson, William Ellis and Charles Wernd, alias
Charles Weston (negroes), on Sept. 17, 1875, while tramp-
ing through the country, attempted to rob Abraham Weis~
berg, a peddler, at lydig's Woods, Westchester Co., N. Y,
They beat Weisberg to death with a club. The three color
ed men were convicted of murder in the rist degree, in the
Court of Oyer and Terminer Oct. 29, 1875, before Judge

George C, Barrett. They were executed Dec. 17, 1875 at
Tombs Prison, New York City. : :
