operator lived on the Burns Ranch outside of George West where Lewis
was employede Mrs, Lewis had tried to get her husband to leave home
on several occasions because he was having sexual relations with
their 15-yearSold daughter, Mozelle. He not only refused to leave
but continued the relationship which, the girl claimed at his trial,
_ he forced upon her, On May 18, 199, they had relations in a pas-
ture on the ranch and the next morning when Mrs, Lewis BiQhitked
awakened Mozelle, she told her mother that her father had relations
With her again, ” They had lewis arrested and charged with rape by
force, Tried and convicted, he was sentenced to death, His attor- _
neys sought a new trial in vain, asserting that one of the jurors
had been prejudichd and that after her father had been convicted
and sentenced to death Moze&le had told persons that she and her
mother wese angered at the time that they testified and that she

had consented to the relationship, Lewis was electrocuted at Texas
State Brison on June 21, 1950.
