Tried under the name of Jack and claiming to

be the property of John Jordan of North Caro-
lina, he was sentenced to be hanged for the
murder of James Crew, a laborer, and valued at
60 lbs. After the trial, it developed that his
real name was Allen and that he was the propert
of Edmund Dunston of North Carolina, Sheriff
attested that hé was hanged as Allen on Dec.
