JACKSON, James April. 11, 1902

"Kansas City, Mo., l-11-1902-James Jackson, a negro, aged
28 years, was hanged in the county jail here today for th
murder in December, 1900, of Prophet Everett, another ne-
ero, The men had quarreled over cards and Everett left
to avoid further trouble. Jackson followed and shot
Everett from behim without warning, killing him instant- |

Several months ago Jackson professed religion and when
Governor Dockery recently refused a respite he said he was
