HENRY, James and SNEED, James

Henry and Sneed,--two-young natives of Tennessee, were tricd_andcon=
victed of highway robbery in Asheville, N. [.,:for stealing a horse
from a man named Berry Holcembe. They: both denied: their guilt but
—were—not—allowed_to—speak-in-theirown-defiense atthe trial where,—
according to reports, the evidence against them was flimsy. They
“were sentenced to hang, and on May27, 1835, they were taken to the
