25-year-old black man, was electrocuted Tennessee State
Prison (Shelby County) on June 10, 19h9, Was a resident
of KX Egypt community in Shelby County, On Oct. 18, 19h7,
raped a 50-year-old white woman at her home near Raleigh.
Arrested after officers found hat belonging to him in her
room, Admitted entering room but claimed only to steal
and denied rape, This contended at trial where she posi-
tively ideniified him, Convicted on Dece li, 197, and
sentenced to die on Dece 15, 197, in one of speediest
trials in Shelby County History, Received two reprieves
while case unsuccessfully appealed (Unable to find record)
Penied his guilt of rape to the end,
