condemed criminals were executed on Sinday, James Cli-
fford Miles, 23, Dallas Negro, convicted of attacking a
white womane,..Miles attacked his victim after a holdup
near White Hock lake in Dallas. After his conviction he
confessed to holding up ten couples parked in ahbomobiles
near the lake. On several previous occasions in the past
criminals havebeen setenced to beelectrocuted on the
Sabbath but until now the Sunday executions were avoided b
reprieves. The Board of Pardons and Gov, Lee O'Daniels
who had already granted 30day respites to the men were
powerless under theConstitution to grant further clemencye
