"Isabella, Gaey Nove 25 1900-Joe Roberts, colored, was
convicted of murder inWorth Superior Court this week,
and sentenced to pay the death penalty. Joe's wife, who
was living with him at Willicoochee, in Coffee County,
ran away from home and came to her sister's at Poulan,
in this county, and Joe being enraged at this conduct
shouldered his Marlin rifle, came in search, found his
wife at her sister's home, ordered her out and after-
wards shot her down. Joe claimed that it was an acci-
