"Louisiana The negro Zac was hung at Mount
Bleasant on the 13th instant pursuant to his
sentence. The wild pine woods surrounding the
place of execution added its shade to the dark
scene," Note: Issue of 1-30-1830 (2:3) contains
long account of crime for which Yac was executed
According to it, he was a slave of Mr, John
Whitten and killed his master out of resentment
for his having had broken up a dance which was
being held after hours in one of the slave
cabins on the Whitten plantation. 4Zac shot his
master in his own house as he sat before the
fire by poking a rifle barrell into the chamber
through an apeture near the chimneye
