Eugene Besancon and Francois Rodin, tried for the murder
of F. He Reidel, The jury was out for only 5 minutes,
The dismembered body of Reidel, who was a watch maker,
was found sewed in a sack in the Old Basin Canal here

"April 21, 1911-Eugene Besancon and Francois Rodin were
hanged at 1 o'clock today in the state penitentiary for
the murder of KHAMAXRAMWRR Harmon Reidel, an aged
German clocksmith in New Orleans last October, The
double execution closed the last chapter in one of the
most brutal murders ever committed in Louisiana. Reidel
was lured to Besancon's room one night, his brains bat-
tered out with ‘an iron dumb béll, robbed, and his body
placed in sacks and thrown into the old basin canale
Both Besancon and Rodin admitted participating in the
crime, but each charged the other with being the perpe-
tratore Besancon collapsed this morning and had to be
