KING , Charles

King, -a white 39-year-old native of Coldwater, Ohio, was a barber
living-in HAX Hamilton where he practiced his profession, He had
been.an exemplary husband and father to his wife, Ethel, and their
XBXK five children: Robert, 14; Leon, 113 Paul, 9; Charles, 7; and
Keith, 5. However, financial difficulties set in and King became
surly and unpredictable, flying into uncontrollable rages with little
provocation. On the night of Oct. 2 3, 1929, he XS£EXKXEXKGNS
Slipped out of his home and dropped out of sight, leaving a note in
which he stated that he would soon be joingng his family. The next
morning the bodies of the 36-year-old “rs, King and four of the five
Sons were found in the gas filled home. Only Charles survived and
the only statement that he could give for his father's actions #&ES

1930, and tried for the murders with the State contending that he

had killed his family in order that he might go away and establish

lieved that he was innocent, but he was electrocuted at the Ohio
Sta te Prison on April 30, 1931.
