"John Copeland was shot and killed by D,vid M, Hall

at Belmont, Nye County, Nevada, on June 17, 1873,

They were both from Utah, where their trouble origina~
ted, Hall was hanged on Oct. 17, 1873, This is the
only case of hanging by sentence in this county (as of
1881), HISTORY OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, 1881, repub-
lished by Howell & North, Berkley, CA, 1958; p 351.

According to San Francisco Examiner, 12/1/1675 (3/5)
correct date of execution was 11/28/1873
