| "Jan. 29, 1892-Thomas Thompson, black, was hanged at
Chestertown, Maryland, at 6:30 o'clock this morning for
the murder onthe night of Aug. 22, 1891, of William

Adams, also colored, Thompson bore up bravely to the last.
About fifty persons witnessed the execution. It was the

first in the county since the hanging of the three Camden
murderers in 1851,"
