State Prison (Franklin County) on HK September 6, 1923,
Had lived in Columbus for three years, Had served two
prison terms in North Carolina and was an escapee,
Bludgeoned Dan Pfifer to death with a hammer on March 35
1923 (Notes Columbus Dispatch does not mention in edi-
tions of 3-3 or 3-l; which was last date on reel), Waived
jury trial and pleaded guilty in the belief that a life
sentence would be imposed, No appeal, Prior to execu-
tion, he confessed he had murdered his father-in-law also
over a trivial matter,
