Loudermilk, a 17-year-old Ohio white man had heard ru-
mors that 7l-year-old retired blacksmith John Kidney
who lived with his 6l-year-old invalid sister, Sarahy

on their truck farm had Savings amounting to between

told friendsWalker Brown, Lacey Adams, Arthur Little,
John Hairston and Frank Smith, owner of the Dew Drop Inn
and they planned to rob the elderly couple. On the night
of Dec. 9, 1931, all except Smith left the Inn and went
to Hairston's home where hewas surprised in his yard and
clubbed to death by Brown, They then ®&K dragged his
body into the house and clubbed the sister into uncon-
