executed Mar. 8, 1892, Wyoming Co., Paes, for the murder o
his wife, Julia Smith Wall, whom he killed in a drunken
jealous rage on July 25, 18913 was born and grew up in
North Moreland Township; his was the first legal executio
in the county; "the scaffold was made of Georgia pine and
spruce and neatly planed andi fitted together"; "the doc-
tors examined the pulse and listened to his heart and re-
ported 19 beats to the quarter of a minute; three min-
utes later it was 1h; slight movements of the muscles
also showed that life was not extinct; the heart beats
grew fainter and fainter until at 10:35, just 13 minutes
