why was it so important for Gov. McAuliffe’s administration to request that the drugs used in
state executions be exempt from freedom of information requests? As Sunshine Week
approaches, we applaud the Virginia General Assembly for killing this idea and encourage state
lawmakers to support more transparency in government, not less.

‘That's why we applaud the Virginia General Assembly and specifically the House of Delegates
for killing a bill that would have further restricted information. We hope to see more moves
toward transparency in the next session.
