Major Donors: $22,500 by 6/30/09

I.

Establish definition of major donor (e.g., $500 + per year

contributions). Completed

Il.

Ill.

IV.

Develop materials to use for campaign -- case statement, long-
range plan for VADP, schedule for the campaign).

Identify existing and potential major donors.

A. Review history of VADP contributors to identify existing
major donors (and potential major donors based on past
history of giving -- e.g., $250 per year; can be asked to
increase).

All VADP donors who have given gifts of $250 and above

identified and targeted as major and potential major donors

($250-$499 potential & $500 + major)

B. Identify potential major donors -- e.g., by brainstorming with
Board members and other known supporters of VADP.
Discussed at several board meetings

Recruit Board members to help with the campaign.

All board members agreed to participate

V.

Train the participating Board members in the skills of
developing support for VADP. For example, telling our story,
talking about the case statement, why they should feel good
about being part of VADP’s efforts to change history in
Virginia, asking for support, who else do they know who
would be willing to consider supporting VADP, etc.

Board members provided with “VADP Major Donor Fundraising
Guide” and “Donor Levels” documents and ED gave more specific
guidance on an individual “as needed” basis

VI.

Develop a schedule for the campaign.

VII. Conduct the campaign. Assign prospects to participants.
Participants will send letters and materials to prospects and
follow up with personal contacts.

Board members given assignments, letters mailed on 12/5/08 and

board asked to contact donors by 12/22/08 and ED followed up

with each board member.
