Proposal for the Future of VADP
for Discussion at VADP Board Meeting
April 17, 2021

Goals: 1. Defend the abolition victory in the 2022 Virginia
General Assembly session with the possibility of a
hostile new Governor and new leadership of the House
of Delegates.

2; Write a book about the history of DP abolition in
Virginia.

Time Frame: | Continue VADP until at least the November 2, 2021 state
election.
Board meeting in mid-November to assess election
results & decide:
“> Future of VADP:
- Dissolve the organization.
- Maintain the organization with some level of
staffing.
- Maintain the organization with all volunteers.
* Staffing:
- Lay off staff member(s) on Dec. 31 or March
31.
- Maintain some level of staffing indefinitely.

Staffing: Reduce hours for Michael to three days each week

starting June 1st.

Reduce hours for Michael to one day each week
administrative role responsible for finances, donor
relations, and database management starting
September 1st.

Continue full time work for Dale indefinitely.

Appoint Dale as VADP Executive Director as of
September 1st.

Finances: Fund balance of $53,844.43 at the end of March.
“» Current expenses are roughly $8,200 per month.
* Current income is ~$600 per month from
recurring donations.
“» Projected negative balance of $7,600 per month.
With no changes, VADP’s cash will be gone by the end of
October.

With above staffing changes, cash will be gone in
December.


Funding ~ $10,000 till end of the 2021 year with reduced staff.
Needed: ~ $20,000 till the end of March 2022 with reduced staff.
Possible Monthly donors - 22 people contributing $583 each
Funding month.
