Rev. John D. Kelly

Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church
1427 West Braddock Road
Alexandria, VA 22302

Dear Fr. Kelly,

My name is Michael Stone, and I am the new Executive Director of
Virginians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (VADP). In my former life
I worked for the Catholic Diocese of Richmond for 25 years in pro-life &
social ministry.

In years past Blessed Sacrament has been one of our most faithful and
generous supporters among faith communities in Virginia. Each year the
parish sent $1,800 - $1,900 from its spring sharing collection to VADP.

As the new pastor, I hope that you will continue this tradition of support
for the mission of VADP to work for the reform and ultimate abolition of
the death penalty in Virginia.

VADP works closely with the Virginia Catholic Conference in developing
its plans, education and outreach work, and legislative advocacy strategy.
You can contact Jeff Caruso, the Executive Director of the Conference, at
# 804-225-8565 or <jeff@vacatholic.org> to verify that VADP does not
undermine Catholic teaching in any way.

In fact, I have been approved by both the Diocese of Arlington and the
Diocese of Richmond to speak in parishes. I used to serve on the Catholic
Conference board of directors with Bishop Loverde and Bishop
DiLorenzo.

Enclosed is some basic information about the mission, goals, history, and
budget for VADP.

If you have any questions or concerns, I would be happy to speak with
you in person or on the telephone.

Many thanks for considering renewal of parish support for the work of
VADP.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Michael E. Stone
Executive Director
