CORRECTIONS TO FEMALE EXECUTIONS ALREADY ON STRIEB LIST.
Keritucky
1)(Unconfirmed) Mrs. Walleck-”“Christopher Walleck and his mother were found guilty
of the murder of his father.”«Kentucky Gazette, 10/30/1801 (she would have been sentenced to
death. I believe hanging was the only penalty for murder.)
2) Phoebe (1812)- This should be cir. 1812, as the only date assigned in my article al
“about 1812" which was established by statements by the oldest living citizens.
3)Dinah (1830)-Delete. Pardoned. Executive Journal of Governor, entry dated
4/28/1830.
NC) Slave, 1839-I believe that this is the new confirmation, slave Sarah (1837)
NC) Slave Martha, (1839) Spintrap or Risk- Risk was correct name.
4)(Unconfirmed)-”Kentucky: Mr. William Hamilton of Brandenburg, Ky., was killed by a
female slave the week before last. He had corrected the servant for insolence to his mother. She
was then removed fby him to. his farm near Brandenburg. And on visiting it a few days after, she
came upon him by stealth and plunged a butcher knife into his side.”-7imes-Picayune, New
Orleans, LA, 8/13/1846,
5)Lucy Hamilton (1848)-The correct date of execution was 6/1/1848-Meade County
Circuit Court Order Book, May term, 1848, page 199.
6)Mary Jane Gordon (1849)-Delete; the pamphlet upon which this is based was a moralis-
tic to also printed giving the location as Rhode Island among other states.

Woodford Circuit Court and sentenced to be hung. One was a woman. She had killed one of
ildren and attempted to kill two others. The other was a negro man who had killed another

stay of execution.-Daily Journal, Louisville, KY, 9/12/1863.
9)Mrs. Wigginton (1891)-Delete. This was an attempted lynching. Courier-Journal,
Louisville, KY, 3/17/1891.
