Dear Colleague: 
 
The coordinating team for The 11​th​ Biennial NMCS, “Truth to Power: Impact through Community 
Voice and Action”, is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the NMCS ​Lifetime 
Achievement Community Engagement Award​, which will be inaugurated during NMCS 2019.  This 
award celebrates those who have made a lifetime commitment to community engagement over the 
length of their career as relates to their expertise and commitments to social justice and 
multicultural psychology. Nominations for persons who have held roles as scholars, scientists, 
teachers, mentors, practitioners, and/or advocates for rights and just causes are encouraged. 
Self-nominations are welcome. 
 
The selected honoree will be recognized during the Awards Ceremony at the Summit.  
The ​Lifetime Achievement Community Engagement Award​ recognizes a psychologist who has 
demonstrated significant contributions in the field of multicultural psychology for at least 20 years. 
Contributions in the field can be wide-ranging and may include:  
Academic contributions  
Community activism 
Clinical work  
Practitioner/administrator roles 
Bringing issues of psychological knowledge and practice to lay-persons 
Development, implementation and cultivation of cultural change  
Creating access and opportunity  
 
We are requesting nominations with the following requisite information be submitted.  
1) the nominee’s curriculum vita or resume 
2) a 600-word biography about the nominee 
3) 1 letter of support
