SOCIETY OF INDIAN PSYCHOLOGISTS
2003 Business Meeting Minutes
June 23, 2003
President John Chaney called the annual business meeting of the Society of Indian Psychologists
to order on June 23, 2003.
Secretary Jacque Gray presented the minutes of the 2002 meeting for approval. A motion was
made by John Peregoy and seconded by Becky Crawford to approve the minutes as presented.
Motion carried unanimously.
The treasurer’s report was sent to the meeting by Patricia Alexander indicating a current balance
of $4, 863.01.
Elections were held for offices needing to be filled. John Peregoy was elected as President-
Elect. Denise Casillas, University of South Dakota and Jera Stewart, University of Montana
were elected Graduate Student Representatives for the next two years. B. J. Boyd, Oklahoma
State University and Lynn Abeita, Arizona State University were thanked for their service for the
past two years.
The following committee reports were presented:
Non-Profit status (501-3C): Jamie Davis provided information. John Chaney agreed to continue
providing leadership for the process.
By-Laws Committee: Revised by-laws will be posted on the SIP website by John Peregoy.
Suggestions are to be made to Jeff King by e-mail at JeffJKing@earthlink.net by October 1,
2003.
Ethics Committee: No issues to report.
New Business:
1.
Web page—B.J. Boyd will remain as Webmaster.
2.
Newsletter—Patricia Alexander requested that someone take over responsibility for
the newsletter. They can contact her for information at Pat@okstate.edu
3.
APA Division 18 Psychologists in Indian Country Section—Report by Jamie Davis
the current president that the section was organized and active as a part of Division
18.
4.
National Native American Mental Health Association—Jeff King reports this group
works across disciplines as other ethnic minority groups do to promote cultural
competence.
Rebecca Crawford was installed as President of the Society of Indian Psychologists with a
blessing by Doug McDonald.
Motion was made by John Peregoy to adjourn the meeting and seconded by Jamie Davis.
Meeting adjourned.
