great at focusing in on a particular hot spot, When you have been a foreign correspondent for The New York Times for 20
years, spending time in the hot spots of the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia and Latin America, you can excel at both!
Here in the Capital District, we are lucky that on April 7 and 8 Stephen Kinzer, this award-winning journalist, will bring
us both his broad perspective on US foreign policy and his expertise on specific challenges, from Iran to the Ukraine. Kinzer
speaks at UAlbany on Monday, April 7" at 7:30 PM in the Standish Room of the Science Library on US Foreign Policy:
How Did We Get Here? On Tuesday, April 8" he speaks at Siena College at 2:30 PM in the Father Benjamin Kuhn House
in the Boland Room on the Dulles Brothers: Implications for US Foreign Policy in Iran and Beyond. These
presentations are free and open to the public.*Stephen_Kinzer_All_ the Shahs Men unabridged Kinzer is a prolific writer
on US foreign policy challenges. Recent articles include: for The Boston Globe, US a Full Partner in Ukraine Debacle and
author of books on American foreign policy --- on Iran, Central America, Rwanda and Turkey. His newest book, The
Brothers: John Foster Dulles, Allen \» Kinzer The BrothersDulles and Their Secret World War, recounts how these two
powerful men shaped America’s zealously anti-communist foreign policy of the 1950s with results lasting today. Described
by the Washington Post as “a bracing, disturbing and serious study of the exercise of American global power”, it was named
the “Best Book of the Year” by The Atlantic and Kirkus Reviews. Kinzer’s visit to the Capital District is organized by
Women Against War. Co-sponsors of Kinzer’s presentation at SUNY include the NYS Writers’ Institute, the UAlbany
History Department, Political Science Department, Judaic Studies Program and Journalism Program, and UAlbany Peace
Action. Kinzer’s Siena talk is co-sponsored by Siena College and by the Fellowship of Reconciliation. Hope you can hear
