Legislative Visit - Frankfort
January 24, 2002

Joe Hardesty, Jon Richardson, Jack Pearson and Pete Tozer spoke with
Reginald Meeks. He is already against the Death Penalty.

Carol Frame, Joe and Jon talked briefly with Dan Seum. He was receptive but
gave no commitment, “I don’t oppose SB 127 but will have to see the language”.

Carol, Jon and Joe left a message for Royce Adams.

Carol Frame left a message for Representative Denver Butler.

Jim Wayne introduced the group to Gerald Neal and gave him a “thumbs up”.
Joe saw Paul Bather and thanked him for his interest in the Death Penalty. He
could not determine where Bather stands on this issue, he was rushing to a
meeting.

Tom McCullough had an appointment with Jody Richardson. Mr. Richardson
could not make the meeting but Tom did speak to his top aide and left hand outs

for Mr. Richardson.

Tom talked with Mary Lou Marzian who would support abolishing the Death
Penalty. She was very encouraging.

Tom stopped by David Williams office. The secretary accepted 4 flyers and
promised to read them.

Had a chance meeting with Walter Blevins and he is opposed to abolishing the
Death Penalty.

Mark Bouchard had a face-to-face with Larry Saunders. Good conversation, he is
on the fence but leaning toward abolishing the Death Penalty. There is a
misunderstanding about the 80% statistics that are floating around his office.
Mark left a message for Charles Miller.

Reginald Meeks wants information on IDA’s, he mentioned this to Mark and
Scott.

The Catholic Worker tee shirt Tom wore received several positive responses.
One couple asked Tom for some extra Death Penalty stickers.
