Dear Friend(s),
NEBRASKA did it. Lawmakers abolished the death penalty in that state on May 27, 2015.

Now it's our turn. And we can do it, too. Your past support has brought us closer and closer to abolition
and your continued support will get us all the way there.

To help us get there, Suzy Post, former director of the ACLU of Kentucky and one of the founders of this
coalition, has issued a challenge. If we raise $1,000 after the mailing of this letter she will donate an
additional $1,000. Please use the enclosed envelope to mail us your generous donation or visit our
secure PayPal account by using this link: http://kcadp.org/support-us/donate/.

KCADP needs funding for the salary of our Outreach Coordinator, Shekinah Lavalle, and to pay for the
expenses associated with the events and activities that she generates. Like last year, Shekinah is
working to recruit new supporters at the State Fair and other Kentucky festivals. Last year we added more
than 500 new supporters to our list as a result of events like these.

She is also busy working with our ACLU of Kentucky partners and organizing additional Witness To
Innocence tours throughout the state in October and early in 2016. When people hear directly from those
who were innocent and on death row, minds and hearts are changed and we gain new supporters. Like
last year she hopes to bring lawmakers and innocent persons together when they are in session in early
2016. Past meetings have had a significant impact on lawmakers.

While the General Assembly was in session earlier this year, Shekinah worked with constituents of
legislators to help arrange meetings where repeal of the death penalty was discussed. She also included
victim family members and former Kentucky prisoners who were wrongfully convicted and are now free. In
these meetings legislators revealed their concerns about the use of the death penalty. Some announced
changes in their positions on the issue and are now willing to repeal this law.

Sr. Helen Prejean will return to Kentucky November 9 — 11. Your contributions help absorb costs
associated with her visit.

KCADP has contracted with a team of skilled media consultants to assist us in bringing the abolition
message to every corner of the state. Taylor-Gray Associates is committed to this issue and have given
us a very reasonable rate in return for their time and advice.

Every board member of this Coalition contributes generously to KCADP. | would not ask you to do so if
the leadership of the Coalition were not already doing so. We all want to see the work continue. Your
generous financial gift and the gift of raising your voice with your legislators are both important and
necessary to insure this repeal campaign is a success.

Thank you very much for everything you have done to support this effort. Let’s rejoice for the win in
Nebraska and work harder to make Kentucky death penalty free.

Sincerely yours,

Chtid Ailabesty
