DRAFT - Script for phone calls to KCADP supporters

N

. Introduce yourself as a Board member of the Coalition
. I'm calling because your name is on our list of SUPPORTERS.
. | just want to take a moment to fill you in our work for abolition in Kentucky if

you have a few minutes. | am not calling to ask you for money. As a Board
member, | am interested in staying in touch with you so you know how much
we appreciate your willingness to support abolition.

. You may already know we have a full-time Outreach Coordinator working to

find new supporters and to help supporters arrange meetings and
conversations with legislators.

. Over the past several years support for abolition in the General Assembly is

growing and more and more legislators are beginning to agree that we must
end the death penalty. Members of both parties are actually sponsoring bills
to repeal the death penalty.

. This change in attitude is due to the support of persons like yourself and we

are just calling to thank you for adding your name to our list of supporters.

. We are hoping you have been in touch with your state legislators and, if you

haven't, or if you don’t know who they are, | can help provide you that
information.

. Do you have any questions about what KCADP is doing? Is there anything we

can do in your community? Any churches we should visit? Can you get us
invited to any organization to make a presentation?

. The caller needs to know if there is a newspaper locally, some County paper,

and if so maybe see if the supporter is willing to write a letter supporting
abolition or will to sign one if helped to write it?
