Co-Director Update- Russell Allen
Overview 10-25 through 11-5
Coalition Building
Overview:
Coalition Building continues at pace. Folks are downshifting everywhere preparing for 2022 but
we are still adding coalition members and probing in multiple regions. Listed below are the
meetings of note and a brief overview:
Cherell Brown (Movement For Black Lives)- Check In. She wants to provide
support/amplification for our launch event. Informed her that Frank's report was complete and
we are awaiting the final copy before planning.
B.L.A.C.K Coalition- Attended the monthly meeting discussing causes in KY that need
amplification. B.L.A.C.K is considering what project and movements to build on/support in 2022.
BUILD (Matt-Dart Center): Spoke with the BUILD representative. BUILD goes through a very
tedious and specific process in determining what to support within their organization. Matt said
there is potential for a second meeting to present the data of the DP to the larger group. Will
follow up with a finalized Frank report.
Jennifer Pryor (Ohians to Stop Executions)- We met to discuss ways to collaborate on efforts on
the KY/OH border. Jenniofer mentioned several potential contacts that would also be helpful in
the area and with conservatives. | have reached out and scheduled meetings with both (Rachel
Carman-work NKY for Beshear and Demetrius Minor of Conservatives Concerned). | will update
on those meetings in subsequent reports.
Larry Johnson (Community Resource Coordinator. Office of Lexington Mayor)- Brother Johnson
is also clergy and recently took a role in the Mayor's office with ONE Lexington which aims to
reduce gun violence in Lexington

Education/Outreach
Overview:
The plan is continuing at pace. We will be pushing out educational facts based on KY as soon
as the Frank report is completed with the updated research. All research was completed by
Tialisha and Frank is plugging it into the report and adding final findings. We will submit to all for
review before publishing.
We went with Action Network for our e-mail service. Lists have been integrated into the system
and we will be sending out an end of the year e-mail request Monday 11/15. We will send two
e-mails a month on average and the tracking for those e-mails will go into the
Advocacy/Communications section going forward.
Our website talks have been going well but | did want to put it on folks radar what the updates
are. We have been talking with Seun Erinle regarding our website. Tialisha and | have submitted
the layout and things that need to be included as well as a 2,500 dollars price tag as estimated
what we can spend.
Seun and her team were very worried that we would not be able to execute the vision we had
with this amount. They recommend we apply for some snap grants that | will speak about below.
My opinion is that we need to double the budget for website redesign. It is a one time fee and
the benefits will far outway the price tag. | will provide more updates as they come. | have also
reached out to Kay to crunch the numbers and see if we already have the money in the budget.

Fundraising/Donor relations
This is new but | plan to keep it going as we finish up some of our early goals and move towards
our next set. Fundraising and donor relations will be integral to sustaining our efforts.
As you all know we have received a preliminary approval of our 110K grant proposal from 8th
Amendment Project. We received funds from three sources and | am currently e-mailing back
and forth with the Fund for Non Vlolence to finalize our needs from them.
| reached out to Kay for a financial report so we can see if there is space in the budget to
increase the initial amount of 2.5k. As | mentioned above, | submitted snap grants for a
requested amount of 5k from two separate sources (Resist.org and The Emergent Fund). If we
received it in whole or part it should help offset the website price should we not have it in the
budget. Another source of funds could be the end of the year mailer but | need an update on
what that yielded.
Funds secured (as of 11/5):
