Mallori Puchino- "I Grew Up in the Bible Belt", 2010 October 6

Fullscreen
My name is Mallorff Buccino and I'm a center college student.
I am opposed to the death penalty for moral reasons and I quote unquote grew up in the
Bible belt and I went to a Southern Baptist church and my church didn't teach me that.
My church didn't say that we had the right to kill anyone.
My church, my God, says that he will take care of us and he can take care of those people.
Our job is to put those people behind bars.
I know some people have problems with paying for someone who did something wrong if you
didn't kill anyone so why should they have to pay for someone who did kill someone
behind bars and when you look at the real facts it costs more to use the death penalty
on someone than just keeping them behind bars for life.
And I want that person that killed someone to have to deal with that fact, to learn from
it and if they die they're not going to learn from that.
I've always been against the death penalty because of my beliefs that now I have the facts.
I plan on doing more research and publicly opposing the death penalty.
