5/15/2013 Frankfort, KY - Critics of the death penalty say Maryland's repeal of the death penalty shows
momentum is building to end capital punishment nationwide. Governor Martin O'Malley recently signed a law
that makes life without parole the toughest criminal sentence in Maryland. Similar efforts earlier this year in
Kentucky stalled in the General Assembly. Comments from Shari Silberstein, executive director of Equal
