RAISING YOUR VOICE IN HENTUCHY!
Many events are planned in Louisville and around the state to increase
the number and volume of anti-death penalty voices. Several are part of
Amnesty International’s Faith in Action. Please make plans not only to
attend, but also to invite a friend to at least one of these events:
p S| 7 pm, (Wed.) Oct. 25, KCADP board member Carl Wedekind will
read from his new book, “Politics, Religion and Death: Memoir of a
Lobbyist” as part of the Jazz and the Spoken Word program at the
Jazz Factory, 815 W. Market St in Louisville. Admission is free.

6-8 pm, (Thurs.) Oct. 26, Carl Wedekind will discuss his book at
Poor Richards Bookstore, 233 W. Broadway in Frankfort.
e 7 pm, (Thurs.), Oct. 26, death penalty debate at the University of Louisville,
sponsored by Students United for Peace and Justice, at Strickler Hall, Room 101.
Representing kcadp will be university professor Dr. Ricky Jones and David
Harshaw, an attorney with the public defender's office. Pro-death penalty panel
members will include Jo Ann Phillips of Kentuckians Voice for Crime Victims and
the Rev. Charles Sweeney of the Full Gospel Neighborhood Church.Three issues
to be discussed are: Is the death penalty ethical? Is it fair? Should it be
abolished?
6 pm, (Tues.) Nov. 7, death penalty discussion at the Newman Center of
Morehead State University, located at Jesus Our Savior Church, 315 Battson, in
Morehead. Maria Hines of Kentucky Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation
and KCADP will share her story of forgiveness. 6 pm dinner and 7 pm
discussion.
6 pm, (Wed.) Nov. 8, Death penalty panel discussion at First Baptist Church in
Morehead, 123 E. Main St. 6 pm dinner and discussion at 7.
11 am, (Sun.) Nov. 19, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church adult education program
will show “The Empty Chair,” a documentary which tells stories of four families
confronting loss of loved ones to murder. The church is located at 2822
Frankfort Ave. in Louisville.
6:30 pm, (Thurs.) Nov. 30, Church of the Epiphany will show “The Empty
Chair” and have a discussion by Carl Wedekind and his new book. The church is
located at 914 Old Harrods Creek Road in Louisville.
