Life without Parole: A penalty that fits Kentucky

Support SB 77 & HB 330

Life Without Parole Fits the Budget

Kentucky's budget is already stretched thin. The Death Penalty is a very costly system.
Kentucky spends as much as $8 Million a year on Death Penalty related court costs.
Since 1976 Kentucky has spent more than $100 Million on a system that has executed 3
people.

Life Without Parole Fits Kentucky’s values

With Life Without Parole, there is a 0% chance of executing an innocent person

Life Without Parole could allow us to use precious and scarce resources to support

Kentucky's Law Enforcement officials.

Police chiefs ranked the death penalty last among effective ways to reduce crime in

2009. 99% said changes like reducing drug abuse and improving the economy were
more important than the death penalty in reducing violent crime.

Most Importantly, Life Without Parole Fits the Crime

Criminals who have been given Life Without Parole don’t have the same resource
draining appeals available to them.

This penalty still protects communities from dangerous criminals permanently.
This penalty absolves the state of any possibility of executing an innocent person.
