Ms. Malvina Sheffield
244 Kentucky Avenue
Covington, Kentucky 41016

Dear Ms. Sheffield:

I write in follow-up to my call today. It was
nice talking with you.

Let me summarize the reason I called and what
I’m looking for. I'm working with the Kentucky
Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty, Maria
Hines and others to lobby members of the
Kentucky House and Senate judiciary

committees. Our strategy is to do this by

recruiting and working with members of faith 2600 Landor Avenue
groups whose state reps and senators serve on Louisville, Kentucky
these committees. 40205

So, I'm looking for help finding such people, 502-459-2966 (h)
and that's where you come into the picture. 52599-6624 (c)
More specifically, I'm looking for people who stern.dougSgmail.com
live in...

1. the 68tt House district served by Rep. Joe
Fischer (R-Ft. Thomas) and

2. the 24 Senate district served by Sen. Katie Stine (R-
Ft. Thomas)

I was in Covington recently and met with Sister Dorothy. I
gather that there's a willingness to help with such an
effort, but that this willingness is measured against many
other manifest and pressing needs...Darfur, immigration and
on and on.

I'm confident, nevertheless, that there are people out there
who are a) willing, b) have the time and whatever else it
takes to visit, call and write their lawmakers and c) live
in Sen. Katie Stine's or Rep. Joe Fischer's district. It my
job to find them and grow their one voice into hundreds and
thousands.

I look forward to hearing from you and to working with you
to bring an end to the death penalty in Kentucky.

Yours sincerely,

DOUG STERN

There’s a handy tool to locate the name of your state
rep or senator if you don’t know it is. Go to the Web
site of Project Vote
Smart--http://www.vote-smart.org/index.htm—and enter
your 9-digit ZIP code. If you’re not someone who uses
the Internet, there are other, easy tools, including a
call to the Secretary of State or the local County
Clerk.
