Co-Director Update- Russell Allen

Overview 10-11 through 10-22

Coalition Building

Overview:

| continued to work on rural relationship building. SURJ national is now involving themselves on
the ground in rural organizing. Amelia Kirby is an activist in the Big Sandy area that will help us
make in-roads as well. While this work is moving at pace we are building towards a big
opportunity to collaborate in 2022.

Alarge group of 100+ Black men has sprung up in the Central KY area. There are so many
potential connections here that I'll be reporting out on it for multiple weeks as relationships form
up but | have received some new individual support nonetheless.

Education/Outreach
Overview:

| have made contact with local organization BUILD who is an off-shoot of DART (Direct Action
Research Training Center) to present on DP in hopes to get the issue of Fayette County
pursuing those cases on their radar. They are a religious organization and complete an event
called The Nehemiah Action yearly and hundreds come out.

| have also had small meetings with Unitarian Universalists and Baptists in the area. As |
mentioned my hope is to shore up support in the urban center and web out to other pastors in
smaller areas through this network.
