Funders for Alternatives to the Death Penalty
Common Letter of Inquiry (LOI) Process
Funders for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (FAPD) is an affinity group comprised of
foundations working to abolish the death penalty in the United States. FADP is
attempting to simplify the process for grant seekers trying to present their work to
some of our member foundations by having a common LOI process.
The following funders are currently participating in this collaborative LOI process:
Atlantic Philanthropies
Butler Family Foundation
Fund for Nonviolence
Maverick Lloyd Foundation
Open Society Institute
Sheilah’s Fund at Tides Foundation
Wallace Global Fund
The following LOI process will ensue:
LOI's will be accepted on a rolling basis.
LOI’s must not be more than three pages in length. Please do not send
additional materials that we have not requested at this time.
LOI’s should answer the following questions:
Purpose/Program
What is the purpose of your organization?
What are the changes you seek to bring about?
For what work do you seek funding?
How will this work bring about the changes you seek?
What is your timeline for policy goals?
Finances
What are your organizational net assets?
What is the organization's total budget? If funding is for a
project, what is the project budget?
How much funding is being requested from FADP funders?
When do you anticipate needing this funding?
Grant seekers should email their LOI’s to: dpfunding@gmail.com
The FADP Coordinator will send an email back to the grant seeker
acknowledging receipt of the LOI. The email will confirm that the LOI has
been distributed to each funder participating in the common LOI process.
Grant seekers will also be informed that they will hear back from the FADP
Coordinator within approximately two months about the status of their LOI,
and that they may also hear back from individual foundations who are
interested in soliciting a proposal.
