Outreach, Education & Advocacy

Prepare press outreach and explanatory text regarding Kentucky Supreme Court’s decision upholding
Judge Shepherd’s stay of executions in Kentucky pending review of lethal injection regulations; prepare
press outreach and text regarding Kentucky’s decision to surrender lethal chemicals acquired from
suspicious source in Georgia; review Clayton Jackson case (triple child murder) where Clay County jury
sentenced to life without parole (the prosecutor said justice was served by verdict); prepare article for
the Louisville Bar Association regarding case and its ramifications ( for May or June publication); request
LBA to take official position on death penalty or American Bar Association report ( Greg Haynes,
President); file ethics report with KLEC; chat with Christopher 2X about victims movement; talk with
Markham French ( Plymouth Renewal Center) about peace/victims group active in West End; meet with
Peter Wayne, president of Young Lawyers Section of LBA about role in death penalty abolition and ABA
report; attend KCADP regular board meeting in Frankfort; travel to Glasgow for television interview,
speech to Rotary Club ( separate report filed) and meeting with local reporter; meet with Lili Lutgens
about support from social work community, comment on Lake Opinion Survey ( this is a major new
public opinion survey which shows fairness is leading reason for opposition to death penalty);
communicate with Professors Shrader and Mowen, University of Louisville, about their new paper on
victims’ reaction to death penalty system, review requirements of Kentucky Festivals.
