Strategy to Contact Senators, 2022 March 7

Online content

Fullscreen
Contact needed with the following Senators with the goal of convincing at least 10 of them to be a solid
YES vote on HB 269. We need a minimum of 16 Republicans willing to tell their Whip they will vote for
HB 269 on the Senate floor.

Senators Alvarado, Carpenter, Castlen, Douglas, Girdler, Givens, Higdon, Hornback, Howell, Smith,
Southworth, Stivers, Storm, West, Wheeler, Wilson and Wise.

We believe the following Senators are solid YES votes: Senators Adams, Embry, Kerr, Meredith, Nemes
and Turner

Timing: HB 269 may be heard in the House Judiciary Committee as soon as next week (first week of Feb
and passed out of the House the following week. Letters to the Senators could begin to be sent as soon
as HB 269 arrives in the Senate.

Please do not contact Senators whose names are not listed above, unless you have a special relationship
to them and think you could bring them on board or keep them neutral. They have been solid NO votes
and need not be disturbed.

Suggestion: letters of thank you to supporters, but only if you have time to do that. Far more important
is a letter from your organization letting the Senators know the bill is in their chamber and that you want
to see it passed. | am attaching a description of the bill that could accompany the letter.
