Dear Helen and Susanne,
I met today with Fiona Vaughn who is the budget manager for the Office of Mission and

Values. The purpose of our meeting was to come up with a fast-track strategy for establishing
the first part-time position of special project manager. A few notes:

1. We will work with HR at DePaul to establish the job description for a part-time position in
the Office of Mission and Values that will be supported by external funds.

2. We estimate that the 36K will be enough to fund the part-time position for about a year and
a quarter/year and a half. ( Salary will be based on $22/hour. The position will work 20 hours a week
which translates into $22,880 annual salary and $2288 for benefits.) This will give us plenty of time to
see how it might relate to the Play Project position, as well as fund-raise/provide for future
support.

3. Dennis Holtschneider has given us his blessing.

4. Our General Counsel’s office will work to set up a simple contract.

a. DePaul will provide office/space equipment for this position and supervise the
employee per job description.

b. Ministry Against the death penalty will provide the position funding, and sign the
contract with DePaul.

c. Will be housed within DePaul in the Office of Mission and Values and report to
our Assistant Vice President, Georgie Torres-Reyes.

d. Georgie will be the point of contact and will provide day to day supervision of
this employee based on the job priorities, and cc’d on all communications between
this employee and Sr. Helen’s Office.

e. We will get HR to approve and post this position asap. Our hope is to have one
or two candidates ready for interviews by Sr. Helen and her communication manager,
asap.

f. We hope for a 1 April start date.

Does this sound acceptable to everyone? If it is, we’ll move into first gear and off we go......

Thanks Ed
