Dear Mr. Zweig:

I am enclosing herewith blanks for the
two affidavits we must have on the matter of your
wife. You will find that both of them must be
signed by American citizens, either by birth or
naturalization.

As soon as you can get these back to us,
we will see that the case goes directly to the
President's Committee to Washington and we hope to
get action on it speedily.

Very sincerely yours,

Dear Miss Adams,

Herewith I enclose a photostat copy of the income tax
return made by Mr. Sholem Asch who made an affidavit of
support on behalf of Mrs. Friderike Zweig, a refugee in France
who has applied for an American visa. I hope that with this
document her application has adequate support.

By way of explanation of the roundabout delivery of
the enclosure: Recently Mr. Hermann Kesten, who is devoting
himself to Mrs. Zweig!'s interests, informed me that Mr. Asch
had failed to include with his affidavit such document as
would attest his financial ability, and at Mr. Kesten's
request I asked Mir. Asch for the declaration which was

promptly forthcoming.
