Dear Miss Adams:-
I should like to confirm the telephone
conversation between Mrs. Staudinger and Mrs.
Cables in the mtter of Professor Eugene Spiro,
Poste Restante, Marseilles. a
I asked Mrs. Cables, nearly four weeks
ago, to take up the matter of Professor Spiro,
since neither the Johnson Committee nor our Com-
mittee can help him. In the course of this con-
versation I handed over to Mrs. Cables the letter
written by Professor Spiro to me and asked her to
answer the letter in my name. I am very sorry that
this informal transfer has caused mistake.

Dear Mie White:
| I started to fill in the affidavits that you

I am uncertain as-to-whether-I am vo make out two sets of
affidavits, one for Mr. and one for iirs. Spiro, or whether I an

Re: MR. and MRS. BUGEVE SPIRO
Thank you for your letter of recent date. I
am sorry to have delayed in replying, but we have been
trying to determine whether there is "peed for an eddi-
tional affidavit of support in this case.
We believe your affidavit will be very help-
ful. I am enclosing blanks for your convenience and
have filled in the names of Mr. and ilrs. Spiro on one
copy of the affidavit forms to illustrate how it is
to be done.
In the sixth paragraph where it refers to your
interest in his welfare, you might state that you know
Mr. Spiro is a world famous painter who is in imminent
danger at present, and that you wish to assist him.
With reference to paragraph eight, will you
please | attach the necessary documentary proof, such as
. copy of your Income Tax Return or photostat of the
cancelled check given in payment of your income tax, or
a statement from your bank regerding the status of
your account, etc., to the Affidevit of Support to confirm
the var a made therein.
