Abstract:
Valeriu Marcu (1899-1942) was a Romanian poet, writer, and historian. Eva was his wife. He is known for writing about Vladimir Lenin. The collection contains photocopies of correspondence between Eva Marcu and Heinrich Brüning, 1941-1942, and photocopies of articles by Valeriu Marcu, 1941.

Scope and Content:

The collection contains photocopies of correspondence between Eva Marcu and Heinrich Brüning, 1941-1942 and photocopies of articles by Valeriu Marcu, 1941.

Biographical / Historical:

Valeriu Marcu was born on March 8, 1899 in Bucharest, Romania. Marcu was a poet, writer, and historian and was a contemporary and acquaintance among Lenin, Leon Trotsky, and Arnolt Bronnen. Marcu migrated from Germany to France in 1933 during Hitler's rise, and eventually emigrated to the United States with his wife Eva. Valeriu Marcu died on July 4, 1942 in New York City.

Eva Marcu was born in Dahlem, Germany in 1908. When the Marcus emigrated to the United States, Eva Marcu taught at various universities, including Columbia and Rutgers. Eva Marcu studied Latin and nationalism. Eva died on May 12, 2004.
