Background
- Scope and Content:
The collection contains correspondence of Ursula Wronkow (widow), 1982-1985, manuscripts of several poems by Ludwig Wronkow, a manuscript of his last article written for publication "Brasilia, 'Stadt der Zukunft'", clippings of early cartoons, obituaries, memorial articles, and clippings pertaining to the exile newspaper Aufbau.
- Biographical / Historical:
Ludwig Wronkow began his career in Berlin in 1919 as a freelance caricaturist and writer. He fled to Paris in 1933 where he continued his journalistic activities until emigrating to the U.S. in 1938. In that same year he joined the staff of the Aufbau, where he remained for 44 years until his death in 1982, serving as reporter, columnist, cartoonist and editor-in-chief of the newspaper.

- All items in this collection were transferred to the University Libraries, M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives by Edward Bomsey in March 2005.
