- The Abbe (Abbey) family papers include records relating to the Abbe family. The Abbe family, which consisted primarily of Richard T. Abbe, his wife Helen Woods Abbe, and their daughter Olive Abbe Jones, corresponded with many family members and business associates before and during the Civil War. This collection contains deeds, legal records, correspondence, business records, and other papers of the family.

- Scope and Content:
This collection contains deeds and legal records from 1773-1787, correspondence from 1857-1878, business records from 1854-1892, and other papers belonging to the family. The collection also contains correspondence between the Lomis Family, the Roberts family (1808-1818), and the Higby family (1827-1848), as well as correspondence between Richard T. Abbe and his agent, William A. Jones.
- Biographical / Historical:
The Abbe (Abbey) family papers include records relating to the Abbe family. The Abbe family, which consisted primarily of Richard T. Abbe, his wife Helen Woods Abbe, and their daughter Olive Abbe Jones, corresponded with many family members and business associates before and during the Civil War. Olive Abbe Jones was living in Hartford, Connecticut. The Abbe family often corresponded with the Lomis Family in Connecticut, the Roberts family in Cazenovia, New York, and the Higby Family. The Abbe family also kept in close contact with Richard T. Abbe's agent, William A. Jones, who lived in Pike County, Ohio. Richard T. Abbe spent much of his time discussing the Civil War, land speculation, and family matters.
