Background

Scope and Content:

This collection includes a scrapbook with clippings, letters received by Cora Eastman, and printed materials documenting the life of her father Harvey G. Eastman.

Biographical / Historical:

Cora Eastman was the daughter of Minerva Clark and Harvey G. Eastman (1833-1878), the mayor of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, and founder of Eastman Business College (1859). In 1880 Cora Eastman married Timothy Lester Woodruff who later served as lieutenant governor of New York. They had one son, John Eastman Woodruff. She died in 1904.

The collection was purchased from dealer Dauber Pine in 1966.
