Session 1

"Project Renaissance"

Trudi Jacobson, Coordinator of User Education Programs, SUNY A and Kathleen Turek, Assistant
Director, Computing Services, SUNYA

Project Renaissance, an exciting new concept for providing freshmen with a small college experience
withing the large university setting, includes a full complement of information technology skills. This
aspect of the program has developed out of earlier library/computer center cooperative ventures, and has
provided opportunities for continuing cooperation.

“Beyond Traditional BI - Toward Electronic Literacy"

No longer do we wheel in a truck full of books fora show and tell BI session, but how different is
demonstration of a computer database? Strides in technology should prompt us to examine the goals we
set for our instruction sessions and programs.

"Problems and Pitfalls in the New Reference Paradigm"

Utica College of Syracuse University
A discussion of Utica College Library's move toward--and then away from--the New Reference Paradigm.

Session 4

"Establishing Collection Policies for Electronic Materials"

"Creating the Electronic Classroom"

Mary Jane Petrowski, Head of Library Instruction,

Colgate University

Planning a multimedia classroom? This session will address all aspects of planning and offer practical
suggestions based on the Colgate University experience.

"Marist's Digital Library Project with IBM"

IBM, Marist Library, Information Services,faculty and students participating in the development of
MERIT, a component of IBM's nationwide Digital Library initiative. A discussion of this development
and a demonstration of the prototype will be presented.

PARKING
Since parking at the College of Saint Rose will be primarily limited to on-street spaces in the campus area,
carpooling is strongly recommended. A block of parking spaces will be available at nearby Siena College,
Loudonville, and a shuttle bus will transport conference attendees to and from Saint Rose. Indicate your
parking preference on the Registration Form. The first 50 who sign up for Siena parking will be contacted
with further information.

CONFERENCE LOCATION
Registration, refreshments, the moming program, and conference wrap-up, will be held in St. Joseph's
Auditorium. Lunch will be in Campus Center Dining Rooms 1 & 2 and the aftemoon sessions will take
place in the Campus Center Conference Rooms. The emergency phone number during the conference is

ARRIVING EARLY?
There will be an informal pre-conference dinner (dutch treat) at 7:00p.m. for those arriving on Thursday,
at Mangia's Pizza & Pasta, Stuyvesant Plaza, Albany, Tel. No. (518) 482-8000. Indicate on the Conference
Registration Form if you will be attending.
