ENYACRL Program Chair’s Report 2021 — 2022
This year we conducted a virtual program and an in-person program for ENYACRL members. The
programming planning committee consisted of Sarah Rhodes (chair). Lori Wienke, Wendy West, Jessica
Petitto, Lisa Rogers, Giovanna Rita Colosi, Juan P. Denzer, Emily Kilcer, and Adrianna Martinez.
The planning committee put together a webinar that took place on March 1*, 2022. The webinar
featured Karina Hagelin and the topic was “Trauma-Informed Librarianship: Creating Communities of
Care”. The event was free of charge and had over 50 registrants. The webinar was hosted through the
Zoom platform utilizing the webinar feature. The webinar was recorded so that registrants unable to
attend were able to watch the recording later. The majority of the attendants were able to attend for
the live session.
The programming committee asked the board to purchase a Zoom account for the year. Due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, virtual programming has exploded and taken on new popularity. Having the ability
to schedule virtual programming through a designated Zoom account allows greater flexibility and
control for the ENYACRL programming committee. The programming committee chair intends to utilize
the Zoom account for the 2022 -2023 academic year to offer a series of “brown bag” type of
professional development activities.
The programming committee spent many months planning for the annual conference. The committee
members took responsibility for different areas of planning. As the program chair, | want to thank the
committee for all their hard work and efforts. The conference would not have been able to be pulled off
without all their contributions. As this conference was also our first one in-person since 2019, there
were a lot of hiccups that the committee had to overcome. Many thanks to the director, Jan
Fleckenstein, of the Syracuse Law Library for allowing us to host the conference in their space.
This year’s annual conference took place at the Syracuse University Law Library on May 10th, 2022. The
theme was “Resetting the Table: Inclusive Learning & Librarianship”. The conference featured two
keynote speakers. The first was William Myhill, presenting “Understanding Disability in the Library and
Creating Inclusive Services.” The second was Nicole Thomas presenting “Critical Librarianship:
Empowering Students through Inclusive Instruction”. There were over 70 registrants for the conference.
The board wanted to make the conference affordable for attendees as funding is still limited for
professional development activities for many ENYACRL members. The conference charged a reduced fee
for members, and a slightly higher fee for non-members. To encourage membership in the ENYACRL
organization, the board agreed to give non-member registrants a year of ENYACRL membership with
their conference registration. Non-members registrants were allowed to opt out of the membership, but
many selected to keep it.
In addition to the two keynote speakers, the conference featured two breakout sessions featuring four
different presentations, a lightning round featuring three presentations, and two poster/vendor
sessions. Copies of the conference pdf are in the ENYACRL dropbox along with a copy of this report.

The 2023 conference will take place at SUNY Oneonta in May. | would like to thank all the committee
members and board members once again for all their help and assistance during the planning process of
the conference. Even though things are returning to normal a bit, the increased stress and workload
caused by the pandemic is still present. The board and committee members were able to work through
this stress to put this conference together in-person for the first time in three years. Their dedication
should be highlighted and noted.
