Resolution

The University Council, University at Albany, at its meeting on February 27, 2014
in which a quorum of its members was present, adopted the following Resolution,
by a unanimous vote, pertaining to:

Recognition Opportunity for the Emeritus Center

WHEREAS, William L. Reese Il, Ph.D., Emeritus Professor of Philosophy,
University at Albany has pledged a gift of $500,000.00 to the University at Albany
Foundation to support the Emeritus Center at the University at Albany, of which
$100,000.00 already has been received by the Foundation; and

WHEREAS, opened in November 2006, the Emeritus Center, of which
Professor Reese was the Founding President, serves retired faculty and
professional and administrative staff designated as Emeriti by sponsoring
programs designed to facilitate and promote the educational and scholarly
mission of the University; and

WHEREAS, the University, in recognition of this generous gift and pledge,
wishes to name the Emeritus Center in honor of Professor Reese; now, therefore
be it

RESOLVED, that, subject to the terms of the Memorandum of
Understanding for Recognition between William L. Reese II, Ph.D., the University
at Albany and the University at Albany Foundation (copy on file in the office of
the Council Secretary), the Emeritus Center at the University at Albany hereafter
shall be named in perpetuity “The William L. Reese Il, Ph.D. Emeritus Center at
the University at Albany” in recognition of the very generous gift and pledge of
Professor William L. Reese.

Certification of Secretary, University Council
The Secretary to the University Council hereby certifies that the above

Resolution is a true and correct recitation of the official action taken by the
University Council at its meeting held on the date stated above.
