A minimum of 18 graduation credits to include AMus 100, one course chosen from 185, 186, 187, or 287; 230, 231, 245,
247.
Proposed:
A minimum of 19 graduation credits to include AMus 100, AMus 231, AMus 110 OR AMus 245, three electives with
an AMus prefix (must be courses, not lessons or ensembles), and one semester of ensemble (180, 182, 184, 185,
186, 187, 287, or 289). Two electives (six credits) must be advanced-level coursework, defined as courses
requiring at least one prerequisite course and/or courses at or above the 300 level.
Prerequisites statement to be appended to description in Bulletin:
This change lends greater flexibility to the Music Minor. Students may choose from a broader range of subjects and
ensembles in meeting their credit requirement.

Explanation of proposal:
This change lends greater flexibility to the Music Minor. Students may choose from a broader range of subjects and
ensembles in meeting their credit requirement. The current curriculum is simply the first half of the Music Major
curriculum. What the Department proposes is a curriculum designed specifically for the Minor.
